The only child of Harlan and Ethel Parsons of Florence, Texas, Ruth was born on March 14, 1937 and was raised on the family farm. Raised in a Christian home, she served in many church ministries. Ruth married Darrell Ray Dunlop of Andice, Texas on September 7, 1956. What soon followed was 20 years of support of Darrell as he served in the U.S. Air Force. Son, Douglas, was born in September, 1960 and daughter, Elaine, in August 1961.
Military duty resulted in travels all over the country and the world. This led to Darrell and Ruth developing a passion to travel the world, which mainly occurred after they retired. This was accompanied by a love for genealogy research and travels. Among her accomplishments are founding and managing a Preschool Ministry, serving as a church secretary, an administrative assistance at a public school, and the financial director of senior citizens facility.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years in 2020. She is survived by her son Douglas Dunlop (and his wife, Alicia); and her daughter Elaine Dunlop; 4 grandchildren Wesley, Kyle (and his wife Manda), Allison, and Savanna (and her husband, Jake); and 6 great-grandchildren Olly, JoJo, Milly, Abby, Nolan, and Calvin.
Doug and Elaine would like to express great gratitude to AlevCare Hospice of Mansfield, Texas who provide wonderful, compassionate care for Ruth in her last days.
