Sandra Lee Jones

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Lee Jones, who left us on November 30, 2024, at 80. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born on January 8, 1944, in Fort Worth, TX, Sandra Jones was the eldest child of Lee Morris Wilkinson and Flora Mae Wilkinson. Throughout her life, Sandra was a dedicated Christian who volunteered her time to the church in any area of need. As a member of Campers for Christ, she passionately shared her faith, leading others to Christ. Sandra was deeply involved in her community. She held leadership positions in various organizations, including vice president of the Burleson Newcomers Club, treasurer of the Burleson Art & Craft Guild, and district chairperson of Camp Fire Girls. She was also a member of the Woman's Auxiliary, the Burleson Garden Club, and the Retta Quilters Guild. She was also active in her children's education, volunteering as Room Mom and PTA President at their elementary school and leader of her daughters' Camp Fire clubs. She worked as a bus driver for the Burleson Independent School District with a regular route transporting special needs children to and from school.

Beyond her community involvement, Sandra cherished her family, gospel music, singing, camping, playing games, and Elvis. She was an avid collector and recycler, finding joy in repurposing items. Sandra was also a talented artist and gardener, spending countless hours on her crafts, tending to her plants, and canning the fruits of her labor. She was renowned for her delicious home-baked goods and homemade jellies, which she generously shared with others. Sandra's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Sandra Jones is survived by her husband, Doyle Jones, children Michael Jones, Melissa Gaskill, Melinda Atchley, Rose Marie, Tracey Lee, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Morris Wilkinson and Flora Mae Wilkinson, her brother Robert Morris Wilkinson, and great-granddaughter Lilly Mae Rollins.

The family invites everyone to celebrate Sandra's life at Retta Baptist Church, 13201 Rendon Rd, Burleson, TX 76028 on December 13, 2024. A reception will be held at 10 am, with the service to begin at 11:00 am. The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Sandra’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
