Ms. Sandra Kay Williams

Her early education began in the Kindergarten classes at Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church where she and her cousins simultaneously received their biblical training. A consummate learner, she entered grade school at Kirkpatrick Elementary School where she excelled, progressing through intermediate and high school, where she gained popularity as a majorette, earning the nickname “Pan” before eventually graduating in 1964.

Sandra, bayou-bound, immediately enrolled in Dillard University after high school and headed to New Orleans, Louisiana to begin her college career. Sandra, who was constantly striving to improve her ability to help others through education earned her degree in Social Work, after transferring to Texas Women's University.

Degree in her hand and compassion her heart, she accepted a social worker position at Tarrant County Juvenile Justice Department, where she worked for 46 years before retiring in 2017 as "The Longest Working County Employee". There is no doubt, that throughout Sandra’s career, her incredible impact was felt by both those she served and those that served alongside her.

Sandra, an only child, is preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Jasper and Marie Farris; and paternal grandparents, Johnny and Willie Ellis. She is survived by her one and only beloved child, Erika Lynn Williams; aunt, Eula Marie Pickens; and a host of relatives friends. The legacy she leaves behind will be greatly missed by many, none more so than her family. From her characteristic love of Hershey Almond bars, to her signature midnight snack of bologna and crackers, her family will cherish all of the quirks that made those around her grow to cherish her kind spirit and long for her presence.

Ever comforted by the promise that we will all meet again on the “other side”, Sandra’s family shall continue to not only value but expand the legacy she created throughout her remarkable time here on Earth, spreading her message of love, friendship and service to others.
