Shirley Jean Atcheson

Shirley Atcheson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on her 75th birthday, July 17, 2025. She was a woman whose heart was as big as her laugh, and whose love made everyone around her feel like they were her favorite — because to Shirley, they truly were.

Born on July 17, 1950, Shirley lived a life full of warmth, generosity, and grit. She was preceded in death by her brother Steven Martin and her devoted husband, Johnny Atcheson, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. Together, they built a family rooted in love and strength.

Shirley is survived by her children, Cheri (Charles) Nye, Joni (Stephen) Shadman; her son, Johnny Ray Atcheson; seven cherished grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings Edward Martin, Ronald Martin, Nancy Fry, Vickie Martin, and Garry Martin who brought endless joy to her days. Her family was the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to gather them close.

A true people person, Shirley found joy in the company of friends, where she was always ready with a smile and a kind word. She had a remarkable way of showing up — always the first to offer help, support, or a shoulder to lean on during hard times.

Shirley Atcheson’s legacy is one of compassion, humor, loyalty, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those lucky enough to be loved by her.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.

A funeral service will occur Friday, August 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.

A committal service will occur Friday, August 1, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.

A reception will be held at the VFW at 580 S. Cherry Lane in White Settlement from 1-4PM.
