Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Chapel of the Chimes. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
Ted was born in September of 1926 in Cooper, Delta County, to William Fredrick and Ella Glenn Sheppard Glosup. He was the fifth of 10 children, the third son out of four boys with six sisters. Ted and his wife of 63 years, Barbara Tharp Glosup, were longtime residents of Crowley, having moved there in 1973 from Fort Worth. Ted served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Ted and Barbara met on a blind date and married in 1951. He worked many years in the same profession of his father, as a surveyor, as does his only son Steve after him.
Ted loved his family, taking walks, working with his hands in the soil, building things, beans and cornbread, sweet tea and peanut brittle. He eschewed his hearing aids, gossip and arguing.
A Christian man, Ted exemplified 1st Corinthians 13:4-13: he was patient, he was kind, and he didn't boast he wasn't envious; he always put others first and never asked for anything in return.
Our beloved Ted will be deeply missed; he was a loving, devoted husband and father, son, brother and neighbor. A genuine person who made an impact on all who met him.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Irene Brister; his brothers, Bill and Newman Glosup; and first grandson, Paul Giles.
Survivors: Wife, Barbara Glosup; children, Deanna Giles and husband, Ronny, Debra Blevins and husband, Roger, Stephen Glosup and wife, Sonia, Teresa Jarrett; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Glosup; sisters, Doris Boardman, Betty Newell, Bernice Nolan, Wanda Quaid and Kathleen Jetton; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
