Mrs. Theone Tolbert Larkin, age 79, a caring wife, beloved mother of three, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully in the early hours of October 22nd at Matlock Place Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Facility'.
Born on January 7, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to Steve and Bertha Mae Hawthorne, Theone was a blessing to her family from the very beginning. Her name, meaning "gift of God" or "divine gift," perfectly reflected the grace, spirituality, and warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she touched.
Fondly nicknamed "Teedie", Theone received her education at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School and within the Fort Worth Independent School District. She met her husband, Henderson Larkin Jr., through work, and they shared 39 years of marriage until his passing. As a young wife and mother, Theone poured her heart into her family, creating a nurturing home filled with love and sacrifice. Her children each felt uniquely cherished, and her grandchildren knew they could always count on her unwavering support.
She shared a deep bond with her sister, Clara Moore, one built on childhood secrets and adult hopes and dreams. Theone's career spanned over 30 years at Alcon Laboratories, where she worked as a Lead Operator in the Sterile Field. She took pride in her work and formed lasting friendships with her coworkers, often connecting through laughter, shared experiences, and storytelling.
Theone's passions included sewing, reading self-help books, cooking and trying new recipes for loved ones, and staying active. Exercise was her favorite way to recharge. Her generosity extended beyond her family, as she gave freely to charitable causes and the needs of others by living out Matthew 25:40: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. After accepting Christ as her Savior, Theone's devotion grew stronger each day. Like her favorite flower, the sunflower, which turns toward the sun when it shines, she turned toward the Son, seeking His presence and walking in His light. Whether praying privately at home or at Morning Star House of Prayer Center, she embraced her spiritual gift and prayed fervently for others.
Theone will be remembered for her gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and unwavering grace. She lived boldly in her faith, encouraging others to reflect on their own spiritual journey with gentle reminders like, "That's not the Christian thing to do."
She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Bertha Hawthorne, and her husband, Henderson Larkin Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, cherished by her children: Michael F. Larkin, Angela L. Larkin, and Tracy L. Larkin Sr.; her sister, Clara Moore; her grandchildren: Laterica N. Wilson (Demetrius), D'Andre Larkin, and Tracy L. Larkin Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
