Tim lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: he would always rather be a free spirit than a trapped soul. That belief shaped the way he lived each day. He found his greatest joy outdoors—fishing at his favorite spots, camping under open skies, and soaking in the quiet beauty of nature. Whether beside the water at sunrise or gathered around a campfire at night, Tim treasured these moments most when they were shared with the people he loved.
Those closest to Tim will forever remember the humor he brought into every conversation. He had a way of lightening the mood, offering a steady presence, and reminding others not to take life too seriously. His loyalty, honesty, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends were hallmarks of his character. If you were fortunate enough to call Tim a friend, you knew you could count on him.
Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of thirteen years, Brenda Martinez Ewing; his father, James R. Ewing; and his brothers, Robert A. Ewing and James J. Ewing.
He is survived by his loving mother, Martha Ewing; his children, Pennie Ewing and Jeremiah Ewing; his sister and brother-in-law, Becky Ewing Trice and Howard Trice; his nephews, Keith Trice and Nicholas Ewing; and his niece, Emily Martinez Ewing. Each of them carries forward his memory and the lessons he taught through his strength and spirit.
Tim faced his illness with courage and resilience:
“Long days, long nights, you bore the pain of cancer and hoped for a cure, but all in vain. You fought a good fight, then God decided what was best. He took you home and gave you rest.”
Though his passing leaves a deep void, his family takes comfort in their faith and in the promise of Scripture. As Romans 8:18 reminds us: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” We look forward to that glory and to the day we are reunited.
Rest in peace, Tim, until we meet again.
The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date at Tim’s favorite fishing spot, a place that brought him peace and reflected the freedom with which he lived his life.
