In 1959 she graduated from Tiptonville High School. In 1960-1961, John Little Sr. was stationed in Thailand with the son of Virginia’s pastor. He told John Sr. there was a nice young lady in his dad’s church, and asked if he would like to write her. They started writing one another and did so for 18 months. In September of 1961, he came back to the States, and they met face to face. In December of 1961, they became engaged, and on February 23rd, 1962, John Sr’s 33rd birthday, they were married. It was the culmination of the classic military romance.
They moved to Belton, Mo., where their son, John Jr. was born. They were soon transferred to the Philippines for a time. They then came back stateside to Lubbock, Tx, where Melinda was welcomed to the family. Then the Air Force sent them to Japan for three years. Langley, Va., was their next stop, but then John received orders to go to Korea, leaving his wife and children in Lake Worth, Tx. From there, they were transferred to Wichita Falls, Tx., where John finally retired from the Air Force. They moved to Montgomery, Al., for a couple of years, but Texas called for them, and they returned to Texas for good. Virginia worked at a variety of jobs during this time, jobs ranging from restaurants, funeral homes, managing an apartment complex. She followed John wherever he went, and always found a church to be a part of wherever they were.
Settling down in Fort Worth, her greatest joys were going to church, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending family holidays and events, and loving people.
