It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William “Russell” Chancellor, who left us on August 9, 2025, at the age of eighty. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. We are thankful to the Lord for letting us have him for so many years.
Everyone that Russell met through his life loved him and most people called him Uncle Russell or Pawpaw. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all.
William Russell Chancellor was born on Sunday December 10, 1944, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Mother Nancy Mazie Williams and Father Robert Lee Chancellor. As a child Russell loved sports. He boxed and played football, but the one sport he loved the most was baseball. He was extremely competitive and had to be the best. Russell’s professional life mostly consisted of roofing and construction work. Russell was a jack of all trades and a diligent worker. If he did not know how to take care of the problem, he would drive around and find someone doing another job, stop and watch that person. That is how he learned what he needed to know to take care of the problem.
Russell is survived by his wife, Sue, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. His sister Patricia & husband Chris LeBlanc. Brothers-in-law, Randy & Terry Fletcher, Sisters-in-law Joann Parker, Patricia & husband Kenny McDonald.
His children, William Russell Jr. & wife Becky Chancellor, Ruth Ann & husband Mark McClain, Nancy & husband Todd Myers, Jaycee Chancellor, Jason Chancellor, and Jeremy & wife Danielle Chancellor. His grandkids Justin & wife April Kilman, Jessica Kilman-Ortega, Amanda & husband Geoff Grotberg, Wesley & wife Amy McClain, William Russell Chancellor III, Baylea and Austin Myers, Grayson, Aubrey, and Sullivan Chancellor, Lexi, and Liberty Chancellor. His great grandkids, Braden Carson, Blake and Olivia Kilman, Kayla Ortega, Kelsey Fretwell, Mark, Nicholas, and Joshua Grotberg, Hanna & husband Elijah Tovar, Tracey & wife Samantha Pitloun, Taylor Pitloun and multiple nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his father Robert Chancellor, mother Nancy Morgan, brothers Bobby, Ben, Richard, and David Chancellor. His nephew Rick Chancellor and great grandson James Grotberg.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this challenging time. Russell’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
