Jonathan "Tatan" Velez

Tatan was born December 26, 1984 in Yauco, Puerto Rico, and moved to Framingham with his family when he was ten years old. He graduated from Framingham High School with the class of 2003.

Tatan was a car enthusiast and skilled mechanic. He worked at dealerships and repair shops, including AJ’s Auto Body in Framingham. Tatan was passionate about art and was an experienced tattoo artist.

If you have ever met Tatan, he has certainly made an impression on you! He had a strong, energetic, and positive personality and a great sense of humor. In his free time, he enjoyed playing video games, riding his motorcycle, showing off his incredible dance moves, and fishing with his kids. Most of all, Tatan loved creating special moments with his children and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Luz Medina; stepfather Wanelger “Wayne” Guzman both of Framingham; father, Ildefonso Velez of PA; daughter, Jonalybeth Velez Maldonado, with another daughter on the way, Jonatalie Velez Maldonado, their mother and Tatan’s beloved companion, Leidy Maldonado, all of Framingham; sons, Jonathan Velez, Jr., Jaisaiah Velez; stepdaughter, Ardealis Decoo and her two daughters (Tatan’s granddaughters); and their mother, Dennice Rivera, all of Natick; siblings, Johanna Velez of Worcester, Wanelger “Wayne” Guzman, Jr., of Framingham, Ildefonso “Fonisto” Velez of Framingham; maternal grandmother, Ada Gonzalez of Gardner; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 9, from 6-8PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 318 Union Avenue, Framingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, September 10, at St. Stephen Parish, 221 Concord Street, Framingham. Burial will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery in Framingham.

Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made directly to Tatan’s family.
