Richard E. "Ed" Thompson, former Executive Secretary for the Town of Sudbury died unexpectedly Friday evening, March 4, 2011 after becoming ill at his home. He was 71 and the husband of Karen (Medin) Thompson. A resident of Sudbury since 1972, he was born in Shenandoah, Iowa March 23, 1939, the son of the late Morris and Charloette Thompson and a graduate of the University of Iowa. He was a Peacetime, U. S. Army Veteran In addition to his wife, Karen, he leaves his children; Mark & Michael Thompson, Keary Griffin and Kelle Shugru and his grandchildren; Justin, Henry and Maccabee. He was also the brother of Sharon, Bobbie , Diane, Teresa, Susan and the late Jackie, Dee Dee and Michael. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with a concluding Service of Remembrance at 4:00 o'clock at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, Sudbury. At Ed's request, rather than flowers, donations in his memory should be directed to the charity of one's choice.
