

Arthur Howard Cathcart, age 91, passed away at home on April 15, 2013. Born February 16, 1922 to Elmer Cathcart and Carrie Cathcart ( Morris ) in Sidney, Ohio. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. during WWII in the South Pacific. He participated in the Battles of New Guinea, South Philippines and Luzon. He received four Overseas Service Bars, three Bronze Battle Stars for the American Defense Asiatic Pacific Theater and One Bronze Battle Star for the Philippine Liberation. His highest grade held was Tech Sargent. He was Honorably Discharged, after serving for 5 years 2 months, in 1945. He worked at Armco Steel in the Aluminize/ Zinc Grip Coating Maintenance Department. He retired after 36 years, as a Maintenance Section Manger. He loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid golfer and had two recorded "hole-in-ones". He enjoyed time spent with his many golf buddies. He loved to visit relatives in Alabama. He was a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and loved sitting and listening to their games. He was eager to assist family, always there, always offering help or advice. It is his devotion to family that will be missed and remembered.
He was preceded in death by his father; Elmer, his mother; Carrie, a brother; Paul and a son-inlaw; Terry Ferguson.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Frances Cathcart ( Roy ), Daughters: Shirley Gabriel and husband Douglas of Springboro, Gaile Runge and husband Steve of Franklin and son: Mick Cathcart and wife Toni of Franklin.
He is survived by 8 Grandchildren: Amy Pritchard (Matt ), David Ferguson ( Becky ), Lori Riley, Rachel Runge, Jake Runge ( Becky ), Heather Junkins ( Tim ), Sam Cathcart ( Angie ) and Joanna Brown ( Brian ). He is survived by16 Great Grandchildren that he loved dearly.
He had many good friends. The caregivers from Visiting Angels kept him comfortable, they were the best, our Family appreciates them all. The family will be holding a private service.
