

David Bruce Parker, age 68, of Dayton, Ohio, died Sunday September 21, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 21, 1946 to John and Esther (Blankenship) Parker. Bruce graduated from Franklin H.S. in 1964 where he earned the John Phillips Sousa Award. He had a passion for music and news, which led him to a career in broadcasting. He started out in radio as a DJ and then moved to TV News. He helped create 22Alive News at WKEF from the ground up, where he later became News Director. He retired in 1998 from broadcasting. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caitlin Parker and his parents. Bruce is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Dotty) Parker, a daughter, Rhonda Marlene (Ray) Slone, a son, David (Tami) Parker, grandson, Alexander Slone; and granddaughter, Hannah Parker. He also leaves a sister, Shirley Wallace and a cousin Joan Doliboa. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday September 28, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Homes 1357 East Second Street Franklin.
