I had the Honor of Painting with Candy girl in Chicago at Ros' seminar, which will NOT be the same without her there. Truly she is an Angel and we will soo miss her more than we could ever put into words. May God Keep her family close and give them strength everyday. She spoke of you Always with such joy and love, I know she will be with you always. And for Sure, I know wherever she is she is painting up a storm...God Bless you Candy girl until we meet again...Love you always, your painting bud, Debe D.

I express my deepest heartfelt sympathy to all of you in the loss of your beloved Candy.

I am a classmate of Candy's from St. Andrew Lutheran School. How sad it is to hear this news.

When I saw her picture in the death notice, I said wow, she hasn't changed, she looks the same as she did on a picture I have(and found it tonight) with her and 2 other classmates on our graduation night 6-9-1967. Candy always did have a special sweet and gentleness about her. I recall one year she was very ill and was unable to come to school even though she lived 3 houses away. I was one of the lucky ones that would take her school work home to her and I was always met at the door by her mom with that same smile that Candy always wore on her face. The Mangel's were a wonderful Christian family. As so often, after H.S. we loose touch with our classmates, but Candy's Aunt Vi and My Aunt Annetta (Rueter) and Elda Eichhorn (my Mom) were also classmates of St Andrew and life long friends. Aunt Vi was always so proud of Candy and shared Candy's accomplishments with my aunt who in turn shared them with me. I often have thought of Candy in recent years as since both Annetta and Vi passed away, I wondered how she was. There is no doubt that Candy touched so many lives, as if I can recall memories of her that go back 44 yrs ago, there have been hundreds of lives that in her short journey here on earth that God put in her path to help make a difference in their lives. May the comfort and prayers of your family and friends give you peace of mind knowing that Candy has received the ultimate Christian reward, Eternal Life with her Lord in heaven. In the days ahead try to~ Think of the joy she left behind of her cheerful smile & laughter~ Think of her loving words and deeds that will live forever after~ Think of all of these wonderful things even though she now is gone~ As by keeping these memories alive in your hearts, she will always live on. Thru the years we have shared our favorite Bible verse with our family & freinds in their times of loss. We hope that if not now, but in time, it will bring you comfort: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose" Rom 8:28. Candy was one of God's earth angels...how ironic that "angel" was part of her last (maiden) name.....and she certainly lived up to it as she was a good and faithful servant.

I remember Candy living down the street (Wolcott St. ) from me . We went to St Andrews and our parents were friends and classmates. My dad was Oren from the candy store . May she rest in peace and be in heaven with Jesus and her loved ones who have gone before her. Deepest sympathies to her husband and daughter.

'Candy' was a caring, young angel even as a child. (We had the same pediatrician growing up). I remember Candance saying she was going to help 'others' as "our" Dr had helped her. Her cheerful smile and helpful ways blessed our grammar school / high school. She truly blessed the world. My deepest sympathy to her husband, daughter, and cousin... and to her many friends.

Dear Bob,

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the Simkins family and to the friends of Candi. I remember her for her endless energy and good spirits, and how she made everyone feel welcome to her home and part of her extended family. This was particularly evident during the holidays, where we enjoyed her great hospitality.

Dr. Simkins, my most sincere condolences to you and your daugher and family in the loss of Candace. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I still remember our "Blues" night out in Houston.

Candy was a very special person, who made you feel special too. She was talented in so many ways. I will always remember her as I treasure the gifts I have from several Christmas past. Will say a pray today as I am not able to be with you all today.

My friend, Candy, what a grand individual. Always a smile on her face; listening, caring, and a very giving person. I will sorely miss her!

I lost a special friend. I bet she's already painting on something in heaven.....
