

MAILE, Claire, 88, of Lebanon, died January 2, 2020. Born August 13, 1931 in Cincinnati, OH to Josef and Berta Maile, she was a Sister from the Convent and Academy of Mount Notre Dame. She was a member of various parishes around Cincinnati and a current member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church. After a severe battle with Tuberculosis, she pursued a teaching degree and then became a teacher at Mount Norte Dame, where she taught English Literature and for many years at Seton Catholic High School where she taught Journalism, English, and Photography and sponsored the Year Book. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano, was a cat and animal lover taking in many cats. Her articles and pictures were published in several magazines, and she had a long career into her late 70’s working in the Law Department at the Anderson Publishing Company.
Preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Berta, step-parent Anna and two brothers and one sister in law, Robert (Ilse) Maile and Richard Maile, survivors include her sister-in -law Joan Maile and 5 nieces and nephews, Brenda S. Young of Cincinnati, Peggy (Roman) Stepchuk of Minneapolis Minnesota, Robert J. Jr.(Gail) Maile, of Cincinnati, David W. (Donna) Maile of Maineville, and Michael Maile of Maineville, nine grandnieces and nephews, many great-grand nieces and nephews, and her best and true friend, fellow cat and animal lover, Cherie Treadway of Springboro, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held on January 20, 2020, from 10:30-11:30 AM at Saint Francis de Sales Parish, 20 Desales Avenue Lebanon, OH 45036. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery 4500 Foley Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45238.
