Donald R Lairson, 87, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 9, 2022, after a lengthy illness with Dementia. He was lovingly surrounded by his family and support from Hospice Care of Middletown.
Don was born July 8, 1934, to the late Cordis M and Edna M (Arthur) in Clay County, Kentucky. He and his family moved to Middletown when he was young and he lived in the area all his life. He was preceded in death by his first wife Maxine (Hammonds) Lairson, his sister Loraine Barnes, a brother Wayne Lairson and his daughter-in-law Patricia Lairson.
Don is survived by his wife Brenda (Jackson) Lairson of Middletown; daughter Lindsey (Adam) Walters, grandchildren Nolan and Emery; daughter Donna (Tony) Jacomet, grandsons Matt (Amy) Robinson, great-granddaughters Oliva and Lucia of Rocky River and Drew Robinson of CA; daughter Carla Senter, grandson Max (Hannah Shaffer) Senter, great-grandson Maddox Senter; and son Scott Lairson of Arizona.
Don graduated from Middletown High School and worked for Diamond International in Middletown for 15 years, then leaving to train in retail management, managing Gray Drugs Pharmacy (Rinks) and retiring with Dollar General Stores.
Don was a member of Clayton Street Church of God that became Harlan Park Church of God and ministered part-time sharing the gospel of salvation and God's Grace. One of his favorite sayings, "Heaven will be worth it all".
Throughout his life he sought to spread humor to family, friends and strangers, bringing smiles as he naturally and spiritually sensed the need for laughter, often with a quick saying or rhyme. His joy was in loving his grandchildren and their friends, as all knew him as "Papaw Don".
The family would like to thank Hospice Care of Middletown; Tony Jacomet for his care and support of Don during the last five years in keeping him active in the community and encouraging Don to offer his good humor, good spirits and laughter to all; Adam Walters for his spiritual love and connection to Don; Steve Jackson for his attention and care of Don in his home.
Graveside Burial of Ashes will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Woodside Cemetery, 1401 Woodside Boulevard, Middletown, Ohio immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at The Agape Church, 4840 Moreland Avenue, Franklin, Ohio 45005.
