

Dorothy S. McLaughlin, age 97, of Franklin, Ohio, died Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 23, 1921 to Matthew and Catherine (Medwed) Schweiger. Dorothy served in the US Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Navy Nurse Corps as a Lieutenant. While she was still in the Navy she met Richard in Trinidad, BWI whom she married in 1956. Dorothy was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She was a graduate of University of Tennessee with B.S. degree. She was employed with St Mary Hospital in Knoxville, TN. She and her family returned to Franklin in 1971. Dorothy served on the Warren County Health Board for three years. She was preceded in death by her father, Matthew Schweiger, mother, Catherine Schweiger; daughter, Lynda McLaughlin, brother, Lawrence Schweiger. Dorothy is survived by husband of 62 years, Richard G. McLaughlin; son, Michael McLaughlin; two grandsons, Christian and Benjamin McLaughlin; two great grandchildren; two nephews Mark and Tom Schweiger. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Tuesday October 16, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church 9579 Yankee Road Springboro, Ohio with Reverend James Manning officiating. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the church.
