Edna passed away peacefully under the loving care of Hospice in Dayton, Ohio after a long life of service to others. Born to Foster and Zula Estes of Centre, Alabama, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Murray, and sisters: Gladys Pruett, Verna Davis, Pauline Chambless and Miriam Ledbetter. Edna is survived by her three children, Bill (Elayne) Murray, Jr., Andrea (Dave) Bennett, Tish (Ed) Pohl and six grandchildren, Alex, Will and Julia Bennett and Brandon, Andrew and Rachel Pohl.
She was employed by the U.S. Civil Service, Edna worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, and for the U.S. Air Force in Rabat, French Morocco. She was a retired teacher who taught in Montgomery, Alabama and Ocala, Florida for many years. Edna was a graduate of Huntington College in Montgomery (BA) and the University of Florida in Gainesville (MS). She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ocala, and after retiring from teaching, was a devoted volunteer with Hospice.
