

EDWIN L. SNIDER a devout Christian, age 83, of Germantown, Ohio, passed away at Atrium Medical Center on Saturday September 10, 2011. He was born on December 22, 1927 in Mt. Orab, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley Edwin and Grace (Collier) Snider.
He was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School. After high school Ed served his country as an Army Air Corps (Air Force) Staff Sergeant from 1946 to 1949. After training in Florida he was stationed in Alaska as a fixed ground radar specialist. After his service he married Jean Fullen (now Kleinhenn) and raised his three children in Middletown & Franklin Ohio. Ed worked diligently and longer than most in retail as manger of Schiff Shoes, District Manager for Park & Save IGA predominately in Germantown and subsequently at Philhower Drugs, Star City, & Richmond Hardware stores in Miamisburg.
Ed was always a giver and never a taker. Throughout his entire life his family, siblings and friends relied on him repeatedly in their time of need. Ed was a long time member of the Germantown First Church of God were he gave freely of his time constructing holiday displays for many years. His priorities in life were always simple but honorable and steadfast; work hard, love God, love family. He did all of that well his entire life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Priscilla Griggs, brothers, Melvin & Larry Snider.
Ed is survived by his wife of 28 years Elizabeth (Libby) Snider, daughter Kathy Snider Wright (James) Middletown, two sons Timothy E. Snider (Angie) of Franklin, & Stephen L. Snider (Pam) of Cincinnati, two step children Frank Kesling Jr. (Veronica) of Centerville & Kristy Lewis of Miamisburg, three sisters Viola Thompson of Franklin, Deloris (Ewell) Burke of Franklin, Marcena Wilcher of Florida and grandchildren; Scott, Nick (Alicia), Elizabeth (Patrick), Julie (Bryan), Katy, Lizzy, Sara, Stacey, Misty, Charles, Samuel, Austin, Brooke and great grandchildren Emma & Sarah. Also surviving is sister-in-law Wilma Barnes (Monty) & mother-in-law Elva Raney, numerous nieces and nephews and a special fondness for niece, Debbie Snider Centers.
The family would like to thank his caregivers Jo, Dawn and Shirley at the nursing home for the sincere care given to Ed in his final days but most especially to Debbie Johnson. We would also like to thank the staff at Atrium Medical Center who cared for Ed several times over the last year.
Visitation will be Wednesday September 14, 2011, 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E. 2nd Street, Franklin, Ohio. Funeral services will be Thursday September 15, 2011 at 10 AM at the Germantown First Church of God at 760 Germantown Farmersville Pike with Pastor Steve Carney officiating. Burial will be at the Miami Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery east of Springboro with full military honors.
