Everett Bruce Smith

Everett Bruce Smith, age 90, of Springboro, OH, died Saturday June 10, 2017 at Quaker Heights Nursing Home. He was born in Clairborne County, Tennessee on March 6, 1927 to W. Marion and Helen (Pack) Smith. He graduated from Powell Valley High School in Speedwell, TN. Everett served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Life Member of American Legion Post #0888 and Springboro Post # 805. He was a graduate of Acme School of Tool and Die Engineering in Dayton. Everett was employed with General Motors for 36 years, retired in 1983. Everett was active in the formative years of youth baseball and pee wee football. He was a member of the Athletic Boosters of Springboro and worked to fund equipment and provide a playing field to start football as a high school sport. He was preceded in death by his father, W. Marion Smith and mother, Helen D. Smith; sons, Darrell and Bruce Smith Jr.; and sisters, Sylvia Cobb and Nadine Carr; a brother Kenneth Smith. Everett is survived by his wife of 69 years Joyce Smith; son, Brian (Tammy) Smith; daughter, Candace (Michael) Gibbs; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Smith; a brother, John Smith; numerous grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2pm Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St Springboro, OH. Pastor Ray Phillips will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be from 12pm until 2pm to at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Salvation Army.
