He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nina; children, Susan (John) Beagle, Steven Markle, and Benjamin (Dawn) Burton (stepson); grandchildren, John Ryan (Rachel) Beagle, Robert William (Sarah Ihle) Beagle, Stephanie Rose Markle, Nathan Andrew Markle and Jace Taylor Burton; great grandchild, Elizabeth Marie Beagle, and brother Nevin (Dee) Markle.
After graduation in 1954 from Eichelberger High School in Hanover, PA., Glendon joined the Armed Forces, serving his country for four years. He graduated from West Chester College in Pennsylvania with a BA in music education and earned his MA degree in clarinet performance from Miami University, Oxford. He taught instrumental music in the public schools for 30 years; had the honor of being the principal clarinetist with the Middletown Symphony Orchestra and South West Ohio Symphonic Band; he founded the Middletown Youth Symphonic Band and was instrumental in the organization of the Performing Arts Academy in 2008.
Funeral Services will be Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1pm, at First United Methodist Church, 120 South Broad Street, Middletown, OH. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11am-1pm at the church.
