On April 23, 2025, Heaven welcomed a beautiful soul. Helen Ruth (Sizemore) Morgan passed away peacefully at the age of 76, surrounded by her loving family. She left this world as she lived in it—with grace, quiet strength, and a heart full of love. Helen was born on September 20, 1948, in Davy, WV.
Helen was so much more than words could ever capture. She was the heartbeat of her home, and the steady presence that anchored her loved ones through life’s joys and challenges. Her love was deep, unwavering, and freely given—offering comfort, belief, and safety to all who knew her.
Grounded in faith and wisdom, Helen found serenity in reading scripture from the Holy Bible and joy in playing the piano. To know her was to feel seen, accepted, and deeply cared for. She expressed love through thoughtful gestures—whether with a warm meal, a handwritten note, or simply her listening ear. She never sought praise or attention; her joy was in making life more meaningful and beautiful for those around her, especially her family.
A lifelong learner, Helen pursued education with passion and persistence. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Southern West Virginia Community College, a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Concord College, WV and a master’s degree in early childhood education from West Virginia University. Her dedication to early learning led her to a fulfilling career, culminating in her retirement as an Early Childhood Education Specialist for the Head Start Program in Wyoming County, West Virginia.
Helen was also a woman of many talents. She served as the pianist for the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church Choir in Oceana, WV for twelve years, and lent her voice to several Christian singing groups. She found joy in crocheting, crafting, cooking, and caring for others—but her greatest calling, and most cherished accomplishment, was loving and raising her family.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband of 59.5 years, Sonny Morgan; her daughters, Melissa (Ken) Royalty of Camden, SC, and Stephanie Januszki of Franklin, OH; her six grandchildren: Kasey (Kevin) Haskins of Columbia, SC; Mackenzie (Trevor) Puckett of Lugoff, SC; Ronnie Januszki (Brandon Borders) and Helena Januszki, all of Cincinnati, OH; Chris (Jamie) Royalty of Elizabethtown, KY; and Ben (Erica) Royalty of Camden, SC. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind two sisters, Anita (Bill) Rousseaux and Nancy (Robert) Matrazzo, both of Florida; one brother, Robert Jr. (Becky) Sizemore of South Carolina; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sizemore Sr. and Hazel Shelton Sizemore, and her brother, Tommy Sizemore.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Dixie Highway Christian Center in Franklin, Ohio, where Helen was an active member. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Helen’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the faith she carried. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
