Herbert Bowling, age 82, of Trenton, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Booneville, Kentucky on March 23, 1936 to James and Ida (Burns) Bowling. He worked at Montgomery Wards for 15 years as a Master Mechanic then went on to Cohen Brothers for 20 years as a truck driver; where he retired.
Herbert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mona Jean (Nolen) Bowling, three sons, Benny (Beth) Bowman, Scott Bowling and Boyd (Bo) Bowling; two daughters, Penny (Rob) Burt and Yolanda (Dave) Weber. Also a sister, Wanda; three brothers, Ike, Hobert , and Boliver Bowling, 8 grandchildren, Nate, Angela, Ashley, Heather, Jamie, Samantha, Emma and Kayla, 17 great grandchildren, and special great grandson, Colton.
He was a loving dad, husband and grandfather. He will be truly missed. Herb enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening and loved working on old vehicles. He was a Christian man who loved going to church and loved the Lord very much. Herbert played in a Christian band called “the Christian Airs” and they recorded an album in the 1970’s. He always took time to spend with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Herb’s garage was always open with free oil changes and fatherly advice. “Priceless.”
Don’t cry for me I’m not gone. My soul is at rest, my heart lives on. Light a candle for me to see and hold on to my memory, but save your tears for I’m still here, by your side through the years.
