James Chalmer Mullins, age 91, of Franklin OH, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024. Born on September 2, 1933, in Kentucky to Greene and Kansas Mullins, Chalmer lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion.
An avid bowhunter and accomplished archer, Chalmer and his late first wife, Naomi, proudly shared ten state titles in archery, showcasing their commitment to the sport and each other. Chalmer was also a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating a Texaco gas station, where he took great pride in serving his community.
Chalmer's family was at the heart of his life. He is survived by 3 of his children, Tim, Julie, and Beth. He mourned the loss of his sons Eric and Randy who preceded him in death, however; his legacy lives on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply.
A lover of music, Chalmer could often be found strumming his cherished 1960 Gibson Hummingbird guitar, filling the home with the sounds of old country music, particularly the timeless tunes of Hank Williams Sr, George Jones and many other classic singers. He found joy in quiet evenings at home, relishing in simple pleasures and sharing laughter with family and friends.
Chalmer was renowned for his culinary skills, particularly his famous deer jerky, homemade hamburgers, and fresh biscuits and gravy which won the hearts (and appetites) of all who knew him. His eldest granddaughter fondly remembers how he would prepare special meals during her visits, a testament to his nurturing spirit.
A pillar of his community, Chalmer was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind and caring heart brought warmth and comfort to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A celebration of Chalmer's life will be held on Friday November 8th at 10am until 12pm following a graveside service at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin OH, where family and friends are invited to share their memories and honor a remarkable man.
Rest in peace, Chalmer. Your legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten.
