

James Robbins, age 90, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday November 25, 2015. James, a devoted husband and father, was born in Calvin, Kentucky on February 4, 1925 to George and Mossie (Hurst) Robbins. He served in the Army during World War II, 2nd Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 9th Regiment, Company C, receiving a battlefield commission to Tech Sergeant during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. James and Naomi's family helped found Eastview Baptist Church in 1959. He served as a church trustee, deacon, ass't treasurer, and choir member. He was employed with Armco Steel for 30 years retiring in 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Gray Robbins and Mossie (Hurst) Robbins, brothers, Hurst Robbins, Clifford Robbins, Caleb Robbins, Ray Robbins, Edgar Robbins, sisters, Hassie Brashear, Gladys Williams, Hattie Thompson, Bertha Miracle, Gracie Arnett. James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naomi Saylor Robbins, whom he married on December 27, 1947, two daughters, Sharon (James) McDade, Mary Lou (David) Starkey; four grandsons, James (Beth) McDade, David (Stephanie) Starkey, Daniel Starkey, Jacob (Ali) Starkey; three granddaughters, Maggie (Randy) Donisi, Mary McDade, Janna Starkey; 8 great grandchildren, loving sister, Leda Robbins, and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 4pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Eastview Baptist Church, 4289 W. State Route 122, Franklin, OH with Reverend Dwaine Tilford officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4pm at the church. An additional visitation will be Sunday from 1-2pm at the Creech Funeral Home in Middlesboro, KY.
