On Monday March 9, 2026 the world became a little more quiet when John David Chamberlain, age 65, of Franklin, OH, ascended from Earthly suffering into eternal glory surrounded in love by his family and friends.
John was born in Middletown, OH on June13, 1960, the first son of John and Lois (Brooks) Chamberlain. He was a 1978 graduate of Franklin High School and longtime self-employed contractor. He was a master of his craft and wouldn't quit until the job was perfect, unless, of course, the conditions were right for a trip to the lake. Workmanship, honesty and pride in a job well done were evident in everything he touched, from custom homes, to shelters built for the neighborhood strays. He built more than structures; he excelled at building lifelong friendships.
He loved all things baseball; a loyal Reds fan, he could be found hanging on the fence at the ball field cheering on his grandkids. He loved shooting pool with his family, making the Chamberlain name a force to be reckoned with and was well respected by so many for his sportsmanship. But fishing was the real love of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to get on the lake. He was so passionate about fishing, always learning and always willing to give a lesson on the water to anyone who could keep quiet and not rock the boat too much.
He was a member of Spring Hill Church of Christ and as his physical body failed him, salvation made him a fisher of men. Wanting nothing more than for everyone to know, understand and experience the all-encompassing peace that only Jesus can bring; he used every breath in his body to spread the good news to anyone in his presence. He and his mission were truly transformed through the blood of Christ, and his message was clear to anyone who would listen; True healing only comes through Christ. Do not be sad and mournful because he is finally fully healed and free of ALS. The world may remember Johnny for many different things, he lived two separate and drastically different lives, but heaven recorded a louder testimony. He lifted up the name of Jesus at every opportunity and that is the legacy that will live on.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Chamberlain. He is survived by his father John Chamberlain; siblings Tommy Chamberlain, Kimberly Chamberlain-Williams and Mike Chamberlain; children, Kristen (Chris) Sasser, Meaghan (Brandon) Graham, Carmen (Greg Combs) Chamberlain, and John (Brittany) Chamberlain; grandchildren Lilly, Hailey, Izzy, Caylee, Christopher, Conrad, Matthew, Becca, Grayson, Scarlett, Caden, Ceagan, Spencer and Rylynn. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends.
The family would like to extend our eternal gratitude to the amazing staff at Hospice Care of Middletown and Dr. Richard Chamberlain for the compassion, kindness and support, provided to dad and our family in his final months. A special thank you to Chuck Dawes for his spiritual mentorship and friendship.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 17, 2026 from 11am to 1pm at Anderson Funeral Home 1357 E 2nd St Franklin, OH. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery. Funeral Services are 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
