

John Curtis Herald, age 73, of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his residence. He was born July 19, 1940, in Yellow Creek, Kentucky, the son of Melvin Herald and Cassie Combs Herald. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. John retired from AK Steel after 44 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Sue Pence Herald; three daughters, Susan Herald of Middletown, Judy Tony Watson of Monroe, Carol Jean Steve Herald of Middletown; three grandchildren, Josey Day Watson, Carly Sue Watson, John Thomas Herald; one sister, Rowena Herald of Vicco, Kentucky; and two brothers, James Herald of Vicco, Kentucky and Tommy Dina Herald of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Middletown First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Chris Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home.
