

John D. Houston, Jr., age 94, of New Lebanon, Ohio, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in East Bernstead, Kentucky on June 28, 1921, to the late John and Lida (Callahan) Houston. John served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Dryden Road Pentecostal Church. He retired from Monarch Marking after 17 years of employment. John was a pastor, evangelist and faithful member of the Dryden Road Pentecostal Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Houston; son, John David Houston; daughters, Karen Sue Houston and Mary Kay Krause; grandsons, Tony Houston and Thomas Hutchinson; sisters, Beatrice Mefford, Gertrude Brewer, Pauline Lawrence, Flodie Baldwin, Lida Mae Osborne; brothers, Jimmy Houston, Joe Houston, Jewell Houston. John is survived by his three daughters, Terri "Tony" Robinson (Stephanie, Tony Jr.), Sonja Rose "Fred" Ocker (Bradley, Jimmy, Jonna, Cynthia), Sharon "Burlon" Alexander (Matt, Julie, Jenny); two sons, Lee Michael "Betty" Houston (Ray, Sabrina, Shannon, Heath, Justin), James Larry Sinnamon (Rusty, Dwayne, Shawnda); grandchildren, Heather, Brian and Jade; sister, Irene Eldridge; 46 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. John will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Dryden Road Pentecostal Church, 3201 Dryden Road Dayton, Ohio. Funeral service will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:00 am, also at Dryden Road Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Benny Sutherland officiating. Burial will be in Hill Grove Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton in John's memory.
