Karen Ann Powell

Karen Ann Powell (Née Henthorn), age 68, passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Greenwood, SC on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, after spending her last days surrounded by family. She was born in Wichita, KS on Sept. 11, 1954, to the late Roy Henthorn & Cherie Reeder (formerly Henthorn). In 1972 she graduated from Anderson High School in Cincinnati, OH, & went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati with an Associate Degree in 1974. Karen was an Executive Administrator in the Greater Cincinnati area for 48 years & recently retired to South Carolina. She loved spending time with her husband, son, & beloved rottweiler rescues. She also enjoyed reading & writing historical fiction & other creative interests as well as being active in her church in Centerville, OH.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years & best friend, Robert “Doug” Powell; her father, Roy Henthorn; her mother, Cherie Reeder & Donald Reeder, who raised her. She is survived by her loving son, Brad (Courtney) Powell; brother Fred (Sue) Frederick; sisters Debbie (Ian) Quinton; Lori (Mark) Reyna; & stepsisters Linda Mandacina & Rhonda Reeder as well as many caring nieces & nephews.

A graveside service was held for Karen on Feb. 10, 2023, at Miami Cemetery in Waynesville, OH.
