

Karen Anne Wenzel, age 69, of Dayton, OH passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute in Columbus, OH. Karen was born in Cleveland, OH on November 16, 1946, the eldest daughter to the late Louis and Lois Kopacka.
Karen graduated from Rhodes H.S. in Cleveland and received her B.S. in Education from Miami University. Karen was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Springboro where she was also a teacher. She was a world traveler, a gentle soul, kind and generous to everyone, and known for sending a card on every occasion. She began raising monarch butterflies with her grandchildren and was currently involved with helping the Park District in raising endangered moths.
Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by everyone who's lives she touched. Preceded in death by her parents; Karen will be missed by her loving husband of 47 years, Bill Wenzel; daughters, Bethany Wenzel, Brenna (Brad) Johnson & Brittney (Darrell) Music; grandchildren, Hannah & Ryan Johnson, and Carley Penko; and sister, Kate (Marty) Flynn.
Memorial service will be at 2pm Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Springboro, 60 E. North St, Springboro, OH 45066, with Pastor Suzanne Allen, officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2pm on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Karen's memory to the church building fund, The First Steps Capital Campaign.
