LaRue Powell, age 84, of Springboro, OH, died Saturday April 1, 2017 at Hospice of Butler-Warren Counties. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky on August 8, 1932 to Henry and Mallie (Caldwell) Gibbs. LaRue was a member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry K. Gibbs, mother, Mallie Gibbs, daughter, Karen Cohn, son, Donald John Powell. LaRue is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Powell; daughter, Sharen (Stephen) Deaton; grandchildren, Stephanie E. Mentrup, Scott Powell, Matthew Powell, Aaron Powell, Chad Cohn, Todd Cohn; two brothers, Pete Gibbs, Denver Gibbs; three sisters, Alice Moore, Carol Zimmerman, Dee Buell. Funeral services are 11:00 am Thursday April 6, 2017 at Cornerstone Church of God, Lebanon, OH with Pastor Brandon Sinclair and Aaron Powell officiating. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery.
