

Mark Spears passed away November 4, at UC Medical Center due to complications from surgery. He was a machine repairman, tool and die maker, machinist and welder. He was known to have genius-like abilities when it came to machining and as a young man worked with his grandfather (Ralph Phibbs) at the family owned Avalon Machine Shop where he learned his trade. His grandfather was known worldwide as a master machinist and when his grandfather was asked who the best machinist was he replied, "I am, but Mark is catching up fast."
Mark retired from Aeronca in 1996 and Miller Brewing in 2014. While at Miller, Mark became an EMT-I and did several ride alongs with Care Flight. He was able to use this knowledge to help lots of others and also taught CPR. He was a former Youth Softball and Middletown Knothole coach and played softball himself as a young adult. Mark enjoyed fishing, especially from the beaches of Hilton Head Island where he and his family vacationed often.
Mark is survived by his wife of 37 years, Camilla; children, Kelly (Chris Bundren) and Eric (Miranda) Spears; grandchildren, Alyssa and Tori Spears, Aly and Zach Ballman, Ty Hubbard and Madison Mullins and brother in law, Michael Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Carole Spears; grandparents, Ralph and Ruth Phibbs, Ova and Eula Spears; Mother and Father in law, Glendon and Becky Willis and a special cousin, George Spears.
Funeral Service will be 11am, Tuesday, November 8 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, November 7 at the funeral home.
