

Martha Louise Bennington passed away on December 24, 2012 at the age of 94 at The Woodlands of Middletown nursing home in Middletown, Ohio. She was born on August 23, 1918, in New Petersburg, Ohio to Evalena nee Swisshelm Shaw of Hillsboro, Ohio and Orpha "Jake" Shaw of Brown County, Ohio.
She leaves behind two daughters, Carolyn Ann John Wallace of Louisville, Kenucky and Sharon Kay Stone of Cincinnati, Ohio, and four grandchildren, Suzanne R. Robert Whayne and John B. Joanne Wallace both of Louisville, Kentucky and Donald L. Beverly Stone IV and Amanda L. Craig Owens both of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Bennington was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll L. Bennington of Middletown, Ohio, her brother, Joseph H. Shaw of Wilmington, Ohio, her son-in-law, Donald L. Stone III of Cincinnati, Ohio, and grandsons John P. Wallace and Douglas L. Stone. Her formidable, childhood years were spent in Hillsboro, Ohio. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1936. She then attended The Columbus Business School. She worked briefly for the Farm Bureau in Chillicothe, Ohio as a secretary before marrying and raising a family in Middletown, Ohio. Later on she worked for the draft board in Middletown, Ohio. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and a member of The First Christian Church of Middletown, Ohio. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and cook. She enjoyed playing golf during retirement years.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday at the Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio.
