With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Gerard (“Micky”) Reese, a treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Micky, age 68, passed away in his home on Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by those he loved the most- his family and his dog, Bear.
Micky was born on March 18, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA, the second of four brothers, to Clifford and Josephine Reese. Micky’s three brothers, Kick, Sam and Mark, were his best friends, superseded only by his wife, the love of his life, Mary Anne. Micky and Mary Anne were married on June 30, 1979, and, together, they embarked on their greatest joy- raising their daughters, Jessica and Ashley.
In 1972, at 16 years old, Micky was hired as a McDonald’s crew employee and the Golden Arches were forever imprinted on his heart. Micky enjoyed a 27-year career with McDonald’s Corp. and then accomplished his professional dream, purchasing his first McDonald’s restaurant in 1999. He expanded to own and operate three, thriving McDonald’s restaurants in the South Dayton area and the ketchup truly ran in his veins. Aside from his family, Micky’s restaurants were his soul. He genuinely loved serving his customers and his community, and he often said that his greatest professional achievement was the development of his employees.
A patriarch in every sense, Micky was a leader, a provider, and protector for everyone in his life. He was the rock on which everyone leaned; his loyalty and integrity never wavered; and he was always available with a word of advice, punctuated by a sarcastic joke or a hilarious story from his glory days.
Micky’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the business he built, and the family he cherished. We take comfort in knowing that his love and impact will never fade.
Micky is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, his daughters, Jessica and Ashley, his son-in-law, Nick, his granddaughter, Everly, and the Reese brothers and their families, all of whom he adored beyond measure.
A celebration of Micky’s life will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St., Springboro, OH 45066, on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11 am. Micky will be forever missed, never forgotten, and always loved by those who knew him.
