

Raymond A. Hawkins, age 90, of Middletown, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Hawthorn Glen Nursing Home. He was born December 21, 1921 in Blue Ball, Ohio the son of Raymond A. Hawkins and Emma Wysong Hawkins Lamb. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, entered the Great Lakes Naval Training, then was sent to San Diego Naval Base, and then shipped off to the South Pacific. Raymond was a member of the American Legion Post 218, a former Cub Scout Leader, and attended Breiel Boulevard First Church of God and Christian Enterprise Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Raymond J. Shelia Hawkins of Middletown; one daughter, Pat James Ward of Middletown; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Webb of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Howard G. Hawkins, and his step father, Walter Lamb. The family wishes to thank Hospice nurse Amanda, nursing aide, Mindy, home health caregiver, Carmen Cantrell, and staff at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Reverend James Anderson and Reverend James Ward officiating. Visitation will be 5-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery with military honors by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
