Robert Lee Back

Robert Lee Back, age 101, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 1, 2018. He was born in Jackson, Kentucky (Breathitt County) on July 8, 1917 to the late William and Emma Lee (Herald) Back.

Robert was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he taught a 5th grade Sunday School class. He was a Gideon, Kentucky Colonel, and VFW member in Franklin, Ohio Post 7596. He was WWII Veteran and served in the United States Army, EAME Theater 1943-1946. Robert was a graduate of Lee's Junior College in Jackson, Kentucky and Miami University. Robert was a 5th Grade Teacher at Carlisle Schools along with his wife. They both retired in 1980 and immediately became "Snow Birds" in Florida for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of nearly 78 years, Dosha (Howard) Back. Robert was the last survivor of 7 brothers and 4 sisters, he was also preceded in death by 4 half brothers and 1 half sister.

Robert is survived by his daughter and caretakers Brenda and son-in-law Darryl Daubenmire; son, Dennis (Peggy) Back; two granddaughters, Sarah Kaylee Daubenmire, Dorothy Marshall; grandson, Ray Rose, Jr. and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services are 11:00 am Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church 820 Central Avenue Carlisle, Ohio with Pastor Larry Lambes officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery.
