Ruth Ellen Profitt

Ruth Ellen Profitt, age 81, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Hospice of Butler Warren County. She was born on October 15, 1940 in Fort Gay, West Virginia to the late Edgar Ray and Delphia McGuire (Brumfield).

On May 16, 1957, Ruth graduated high school at the age of 16 as the valedictorian of her class with a full scholarship to Georgetown College in Kentucky, that is also the day she got married as well. She was known as an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great cook, and a great listener who took care of and loved her family. Ruth was such a giving person that she also took in and helped people who were not her family, but became family. Ruth loved gardening, camping, reading a good book, whether it be a true crime novel, or something Biblical, as well as bluegrass gospel, and acapella music. She was a devout member of the Church of Christ, as well as being UK basketball’s number one fan. Mrs. Profitt was also one of the founders and administrators of the Christian group called RESTORE, a group that helped people cope with addiction.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Profitt; daughters, Teresa Baker, and Glenda (Gary) Hickey; sons, James E. (Teresa) and Keith Profitt; grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Baker, Sara (Alex) Hackney, Logan Jones, Brooklynne, Isaac, Elijah, Dustin (Tesa), and Brandon (Hannah) Profitt; 6 step-grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Payne ; niece, Kathy Laskey; brother in law Larry (Vickie) Profitt; niece, Lisa Schoen, and Stephanie Wood; and nephew, Kevin Profitt.

Visitation for Ruth will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Crosspointe Church of Christ, 5630 OH-122, Middletown, OH 45005. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at Crosspointe Church of Christ. Burial will take place at Woodhill Cemetery.
