Constancia Sibal Davis, or “Tancing” to friends and family, was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships.
Tancing was the 7th of the 11 children of Emeterio Y. Sibal and Juana Panlican. Born on September 25, 1928, she was raised in Bamban, Tarlac, Philippines amidst the tumultuous times during World War II. Tancing and her 10 siblings shared precious life experiences during the great depression brought about by the war that shaped her to become a survivor and a tenacious person.
Tancing had always been soft-spoken and had a calm strength about her. She was blessed with physical beauty which was acknowledged by the people in her town as they crowned her the Princess of Bamban in 1948. However, everyone around her knew that Tancing's beauty was beyond skin deep; that her devotion and love of God gave her the inner glow and true beauty which far surpasses her physical attributes.
It was no wonder that Tancing caught the eye of a young lad named Timoteo Davis. They fell in love and eventually married on October 14, 1948 at Camp O'Donnel in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines. Tancing then relocated to Cebu, Philippines with her two sisters, Celia and Teresita whose companionship made the transistion less overwhelming for young woman.
Tancing and Timoteo made a loving home that they shared with their 11 children, four of whom are currently settled in the United States. In her late years, one of Tancing’s greatest pleasures was to be with her 26 grand children and 5 great grand children.
Tancing died on February 4, 2011 at the age of 82. “God is already calling me to heaven” was one of her last words before she went on. No doubt, Tancing is now home with her Creator, the best place she could ever be.
Tancing worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs despite challenging times. Simply stated, Tancing was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered as being caring, generous and with a self-less spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
Her loving kids -- Jonathan, Jimmy, Joseph, Jerome, Jackson, Bernadette, Jay Antonio, Julius, Christine, Isabelle and Jordan -- extend their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends for the support and prayers during this difficult time.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Lima Family Mortuary at 48800 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, CA, 94539 from 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM. The Memorial Service will be held on the same day at 6:30 PM.
Tancing’s remains will be flown to Cebu, Philippines. She will be laid to rest at the Minglanilla Memorial Gardens in Minglanilla, Cebu, Philippines in a special lot alongside her husband Timoteo, who passed away in 1982.
