

Eduardo Catbagan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was born in San Fernando, Philippines. He was an honor student in elementary and high school. After graduation from high school, he went to Manila to study Mining Engineering. After graduation from university, he worked as a Mining Engineer in the Philippines. He married Luzminda and had a children, Edna, Ed, and Alan. A few years later, he went to Canada to establish himself and find a Mining Engineer position at a nickel mine before sending for his family to join him from the Philippines to Canada. Years later, he migrated the family to Utah when he became a Senior Mine Engineer at a silver mine. Then Eduardo and Luzminda moved to Michigan to work at a gold mine. When he retired from Mining Engineering, Eduardo and Luzminda moved to California to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.
Eduardo had a green thumb and had a passion for gardening. He spent many hours tending to his garden. He grew tomatoes from seeds, bell peppers, and other vegetables that Filipinos love. He planted fruit trees – peaches, apricots, apple pear, plums, persimmons, ensuring fruit harvests throughout the summer and fall season. He also planted and appreciated flowering trees and flowers – Angel’s trumpets, fuschia, jasmine, roses, orchids, lilies, and many more. Eduardo loved to fish with his sons and anyone else willing to wake up early in the morning! He loved visiting with friends and family, and he kept in touch with friends, his brother and sister, and nieces and nephews in the Philippines via Facebook Messenger. He treasured his grandchildren, making their favorite Filipino food whenever they would come to visit.
Eduardo is survived by his wife, Luzminda, children and their spouses - Edna and Paul, Ed, Alan and Gemma, grandchildren - Reychelle, Jasmin, Sophie, Catrina, CJ, Alex, and great-grandchild - Raiden, brothers, sister, many nieces, nephews, and friends. His memory will live on forever in their hearts.
A funeral prayer service and viewing for Eduardo will be held Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2pm.
