Gregorio Fernandez Tiburcio, Jr. was born on September 14, 1934 in Honolulu, Hawaii and passed away on March 28, 2018 in Fremont, California. He was the only child of Gregorio Fernandez Tiburcio, Sr. and Paula Labrador Tiburcio.
He now joins his late wife Anita P. Tiburcio and son John P. Tiburcio with their Lord in heaven. He spent his early childhood in Honolulu, Hawaii, due to his fathers career in the U.S. Navy. They went to San Narciso Zambales, Philippines for vacation, but could not return to Hawaii because of the war. He grew up in the Philippines and got a degree in Optometry. He married his love Anita and had three children, Gregorio F. Tiburcio, lll, Daniel P. Tiburcio and John P. Tiburcio (†). In order to keep his U.S. citizenship he came to America to provide a better future for his family. He arrived in San Francisco, California in the early 1960’s with very little money. He worked odd jobs until he landed a position as a ramp agent with Hughes Airwest Airlines at San Francisco Int’l airport. With this job, he was able to bring his family to the U.S. in 1967 and established a new life. In 1971, he and his wife Anita had their youngest son, Karl.
Greg, Jr. was a rugged man who lived his life simply and raised his boys with a firm, but always mindful love that was somewhat distant as those were the times men were cut from. He worked for the same company for over 35 years which allowed him to achieve the american dream of owning a home and providing a better life for his family.
In 1997 he had a stroke which left him paralyzed on his right side. He went from being the bread winner of the family to suddenly being dependent on them. He had two more strokes after the first one which debilitated him further. But during those years, he was able to see the birth of his grandchildren, attend his youngest son’s wedding, celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary, and even travel to Hawaii to attend his oldest granddaughter’s wedding. He achieved his lifelong goals of owning a house and providing a better life for his family. But most of all he is now reconciled with his Lord God and savior Jesus Christ. At the end he can be at peace because no matter how tough life was to him, he had achieved his goals. His legacy is evident in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives.
He is survived by his three children, and seven grandchildren. The eldest is Gregorio F. Tiburcio lll, his wife Elerina Ambrocio, their children Lauren T. Folsland and Gregorio lV; Daniel P. Tiburcio, his wife Maria Luningning Elumba, their children Gabriel and Nikola; Karl P. Tiburcio, his wife Emma Tolentino, their three children, Elek, Micah, and Ronen.
