

Mrs. Tolentino was born on October 9, 1933 to the late Cayetano and Nelly Ines Benzon. She had a brother – Ed and sister Nelly. Her mom went to be with the Lord when Nelly (baby sister) was born. Mildred and siblings were then raised by their maternal grandparents – the late Rev. Alejandro Ines and Fermina Ines. Grandparents were originally from Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. They lived in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Philippines where Mildred attended school.
Mildred was married to Eufronio Celis Tolentino (popularly known as “Fron” for short) on February 20, 1950. They made their home in Magsingal. This union was blessed with ten children, including one son who was lost as an infant.
Mildred and Fron immigrated to the United States in May of 1989, with their granddaughters Christine Anne and Marie Quilala. Mildred has since resided in San Jose, California, caring for her children and grandchildren. She visited the rest of the family from time to time.
Best described by her children and grandchildren as loving, dedicated, prayerful, God-loving, caring, always gave godly pieces of advice, a positive influence. Her strong faith and trust in God made her a strong woman. She always prayed for each of her children and their family everyday. One of her favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 91.
Most of Mildred’s life was dedicated to her family as a homemaker. When she was a young wife and mother, she owned and managed a variety store and a beauty shop. She also managed a family owned restaurant in the past at different times, but most of her young life was dedicated to her family and raising her children and some grandchildren.
Her interests included, playing her favorite hymns on her keyboard, singing, writing her prayers and devotions; collecting inspiring articles and Bible quotes. She was a member of the church choir at one point and enjoyed giving special numbers by rendering a solo during church services.
Mildred is survived by: nine children and their spouses, sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four half siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, relatives and friends.
