Rodolfo "Rudy" Salinda, 80, passed away in his home on July 7th, 2017. His devotion to his family, and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle from his past health ailments, and ultimately gave him peace.
He was born on July 13, 1936 in Baguio City, Philippines, to the late Carmen and Victorino Salinda. Growing up he had a passion for aircrafts and wanted to become a pilot, after graduating college from St. Louis University in Baguio City, his pursuit of becoming a pilot was cut short due to his poor eyesight. That did not deter him, as he branched out into the field of travel jumpstarting his career working for Philippine Airlines. He worked there for more than 35 years, immigrating to the United States in 1978 and continuing with the airline company. He had a long career in the travel industry where he last worked as a ticket agent at Travel Fast. He retired in 2003, at the age of 67 after two subsequent strokes hindered his ability to perform his task to the best of his ability.
He was a devoted husband and Father to a large and loving family. He helped raise seven children with patience, discipline, and humility. Rudy is survived by his wife, Carol, their two children; Nicole and Andrew. His first wife, Claribel, their five children: Charles, Rachel, Evangeline, Charmaine and Winnie. In addition to, his grand-children and great grand-children.
Rudy was a strong willed individual. He was stern, yet kind, and had a great sense of humor. Above all, he loved his family. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is now at peace with the Lord.
