

Romulo “Romy” Bautista Reynosa a native of Cayucay, Pangasinan Philippines was born on September 21, 1950 and passed away on May 25, 2009 at the age of 58. He was a San Leandro resident for 25 years.
He graduated from the University of Manila Philippines in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and received Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from Centro Escolar University in 1973. From 1973-1975, he worked at Citadel Lines Shipping Company as an assistant manager in the Philippines.
Romy was a student activist and in 1977, to escape the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos, he applied for a foreign student visa and traveled to Denmark. In 1978 to 1981 he lived in Oslo Norway where he worked at the American Embassy as an assistant house manger for U.S. Ambassador Lois Rand and his wife Sidney Rand.
In 1978, Romy came to the United States, where he married Milagros “Mila” Reynosa in Oakland California. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1981 and became a U.S. Citizen in 1984.
Upon arrival to the United States he worked at the Women’s Athletic Club in Oakland and attended Heald College where he studied book keeping and put his skills to use at a nursing registry agency from 1981-1982.
In 1984 he worked as a junior accountant at a label printing company, Label Concepts in Hayward, California.
Romy and Mila had three children. Erik Simon Reynosa was born in 1981 but was taken by the good Lord not long after.
In January of 1983, they had their second child Meriam Louise Reynosa, followed by Joseph Nicholas Reynosa in December of 1983.
He attended Merritt College of Nursing in Oakland and became a licensed vocational nurse in 1993 and simultaneously obtained a nursing license certificate to work as a Nurse’s Aide with Nursing Care Providers ( NCP) in Oakland, Fremont, and Pleasanton
From 1993-1995 he graduated from St. Mary’s College in Moraga and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and proceeded to work as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at San Leandro Hospital in the Transitional Care Unit. He passed the California State boards of Registered Nursing in 1995 and continued to work at San Leandro Hospital in the Difinity Care Unit as an RN until his retirement in 2004.
In his retirement, Romy enjoyed spending time with Mila, his wife and best friend of 30 years, his children and his pug Milo. He liked to play slots at his favorite casino Cache Creek , sing karaoke, and cooked the best Filipino cuisines. Romy, alongside his wife, also a 31 year nursing veteran were local activists and advocated for nurses rights and like many other San Leandro residents, was passionate about saving San Leandro Hospital.
Romy is survived by his wife Mila Nisperos Reynosa, children Meriam and Joseph Reynosa, his pug Milo, his future son in law, Mark Witt and Jennifer Luz, along with his siblings, Erlinda Onias, of L.A., Elisa Llanto of the Philippines, Lina Reynosa of the Philippines, Remedios Gamayo of the Philippines, Marciano Reynosa of the Philippines and Benita Reynosa, of Canada and many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Vigil services will be held Guerrero Mortuary Chapel in San Leandro .Funeral services will take place at the Church of the Assumption in San Leandro and burial ceremony will be held at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery in Hayward .
