

In 1945, he participated in resistance to French occupation until 1955.
In 1955, the North Vietnamese communists began to systematically persecute businesses and landowners. As a result, Mr. Tran and his family fled to South Vietnam. At that time, all of his family - parents, siblings, wife moved to Saigon.
In Saigon he studied and worked in the finance and accounting field and earned a position with the Agricultural Development Bank. He worked at the Central Bank of Saigon until 1968. In 1968 he was drafted into the reserve forces for the South Vietnamese army. In 1972, he was discharged and returned to the Agricultural Development Bank in Go Cong, accepting the position of Bank Controller.
From 1975 to 1983, his house at Phan Xich Long Phu Nhuan was a destination for many friends and colleagues to visit and recover from their time in the communist reeducation camps.
From 1982 to 1984, 6 of his 8 children escaped safely from Vietnamese communists and settled in California.
In June of 1992, Mr. Tran and the remainder of his family (wife, 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren) were able to immigrate to the US, reuniting once again as a complete family in San Jose until the time of his passing. His legacy will continue on in his wife, eight children, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
