Arthur W. Heinzelman, age 90, of Snow Lake, Fremont, Indiana, and formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was born on December 7, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Carl and Cecilia (Ehinger) Heinzelman, they preceded him in death. Art graduated from Fort Wayne Central Catholic High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Art liked to winter in Florida. He was an accomplished woodworker, golfer, and fisherman. He also liked to fix things for his family and friends, and loved boating on the Lake James chain. He was a longtime member of the Elks, the American Legion, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Angola. He was an umpire in the Fort Wayne little league for years. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Doreen Heinzelman, step children, Richard (Mary) Forte of Jimmerson Lake, Fremont, Indiana, Joseph (Connie) Forte of Rochester, Indiana, Teresa (Thomas) Riethmiller of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Frederick (Susan) Forte of Snow Lake, Fremont, Indiana, and John Forte of Mishawaka, Indiana, a sister, Charlene Hewitt of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, and two brothers, John (Jack), and Richard (Dick). Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. Jon Bruney officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the services from 10 am until 11 am, at the funeral home. Memorial donations in his memory are requested to Rise, Inc., 1600 Wohlert Street, Angola, Indiana 46703.
