E. Irene Elliott, 97 of Angola and formerly of Fremont, passed away on Saturday afternoon, April 6, 2024, at the Northern Lakes Nursing Center in Angola. Irene had worked at Gettig Engineering in Angola for 21 years and previously worked at Tri-State University. She had attended METZ school and later received her GED in 2008, she was the second oldest person at the time to receive her GED. She had attended the North Scott Christian Church and the California Community Church in Michigan. Irene was known for her sewing and alterations. She loved to travel and went all over even to Hawaii, they also wintered in Texas in their 5th wheel for many years. She was member of the Mayflower Society and the Pokagon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Irene was born on November 3, 1926, in Fremont a daughter of the late Peter and Helen (Tingler) Sowle. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. Elliott Sr. on August 1, 1943, in Ray, Indiana. Ronald preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2004. Survivors include three sons: Ronald (Bobbi) Elliott of Fremont, Frank (Marlene) Elliott of Dahlgren, IL and Alan (Shelley) Elliott of Angola; a daughter: Patricia "Pat" Gleason of Fremont; Ten grandchildren; Lori (Bill) Creager, Ronald (Karla) Elliott, Louise (Brian) Cryer, Tristan Elliott, Deserae Elliott, Frank E. (Sandy) Elliott, Lisa M. (P.A.) Kreher, Holly Baral, Kenneth (Ashley Williams) Elliott, Alan C. (Jennifer Finey) Elliott and three step grandchildren: Racheal Lanier, Camilla (Ryan) Hukill and Valerie (Ken) Whitmire; 25 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister: Lenora Kepfer and a step-brother: Robert Graham. Graveside services will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Teeters Cemetery in rural Fremont with Rev. Mark Case officiating and Ronald Elliott officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions can be made out to the Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association, sent in care of Beams Funeral Home, P.O. Box 5, Fremont, Indiana 46737.
