

George was born January 3, 1934 in Union City, Indiana, the son of Leroy Baines Chambers and Elanor (Green) Chambers, they preceded him in death.
He graduated from Union City High School in 1951, and participated on the basketball, baseball, and track teams. After high school George attended Indiana University in Bloomington, where he was a member of the basketball team for four years, and helped the team win the National Championship in 1953, he later graduated in 1956, and was a member of the Beta Theta Fraternity. After college George served in the United States Army.
George married Ann (Honeywell) on September 14, 1996 at the Fremont United Methodist Church.
During his working years, George worked as personnel director for the General Motors Corporation at Danville, Illinois, and later became Vice President of Personnel for Hayes Albion Corporation in Albion and Jackson, Michigan. Recently George was the owner of Personnel Staffing, Inc., and opened the business in Angola, Indiana in 1980.
He was the current President of Little Lambs Daycare in Fremont, Indiana, and had been treasurer of the Junior Achievement Of Steuben County for many years, he is a past president of the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce, and was awarded the Business Professional of the Year in 2007, and was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed living at Lime Lake and boating, he was also a big sports fan, enjoying all sports, especially basketball.
He loved all children, his family, his children, and grandchildren, and was a big part of their lives, keeping up with all of their activities.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Chambers of Angola, Indiana, a son, Greg (Becky) Chambers of Portage, MI., a daughter, Debbie (Morley) Fraser of Bay City, MI., three step-children, Steven (Buffy) Thompson of Freeland, MI., Susan Ross of Williamston, MI., and Gina Thompson of New York, New York, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Patricia Chambers of Union City, MI., also he was preceded in death by a brother CR Chambers.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont, Indiana.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Fremont United Methodist Church, 105 North Tolford Street, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. Darin C. Hendrey officiating.
