Janice Reinders McArdle

Janice Reinders McArdle passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023. She was 71. Jan, a native Texan, was born to James Webster Reinders and Violet Strong Reinders. She moved to New Orleans in 1966. Jan was a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School and Tulane University's Newcomb College. In 1969, Jan met her future husband Patrick Dennis McArdle. They married and had 2 children, Peter Fox and Kelly Mae. She was a founding member of the preschool program, Infancy to Independence and was the Scout leader for her children's troops at St. Pius X School. She opened Passages, a French antique store on Magazine St. During her husband Pat's battle with brain cancer she was his devoted caretaker. Later she worked as an real estate agent. When her granddaughters, Madeline Fox Millet and Charlotte Rose Millet were born, she provided care for them. Jan was an amazing cook, a lover of nature and the outdoors, a breast cancer survivor, a fancier of cats, a marathon runner, an expert Scrabble player, and a world traveler. Survivors include: her children, Peter Fox McArdle, and Kelly McArdle Millet; son-in-law, Matthew; her granddaughters Madeleine and Charlotte; her siblings Jimmy Reinders (Andrea), and Jody Cook (Michael). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City Park Conservancy.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Ray-Covenanter Cemetery, near Clear Lake, Indiana. Janice will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, her husband, Patrick.
