

Kenneth was born in Fremont, Indiana on February 18, 1929 to Robert and Izora (Bressler) Crandall.
He graduated from Fremont High School in 1947.
He joined the Marine Reserves in 1946. He served active duty with the 1st Marine Infantry Division from 1950-1952. He was in the drum and bugle corp. He remained an active reservist into the 1960’s.
He married June Keyes in the Fremont United Methodist Church on September 6, 1952, and she survives in Fremont, Indiana.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Suellen Crandall of Fremont, Lori Crandall of South Bend, and Jenneth (Scott) Tsuleff of Fort Wayne, grandchildren, Brittany Tsuleff, Maria (Andrew) Lehr, and Zachary Tsuleff, one brother, Max Crandall of Coldwater, Mich., 18 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert, his mother Izora, Step-mother Ilanene (Foss) Crandall, two sisters Mary Grace Gunthorpe, and Roberta Baker, two brothers Roy and Dale Crandall, a step-sister, a step-brother, and one niece Patty Bidwell.
Kenny was appointed Postmaster in Fremont in 1965. He retired in 1990 after 25 years. He was active with the National Association of Postmasters, serving as a National Vice President and State President of the association.
Upon his retirement he was the only Democrat ever elected to the Steuben County Council, a position he held from 1991-2002.
Kenny was always involved in his community. He was a 62 year member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257. He served as a past commander and for many years on the honor guard. He was a past president of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and chaired the Fremont Bicentennial Committee in 1995. He was a member of the Fremont Planning Commission and the Fremont Historical Society. He sang with the Pokagon Pitchpipers Barbershop Chorus. He was a long-time member of the Fremont United Methodist Church, where he ushered and sang in the choir.
Kenny was a regular blood and pharisis donor, a golfer, a gardener, a past florist, and a barber, and a woodworker. He enjoyed tending to his property, traveling, cooking, and sitting on the swing in his yard, accompanied by his grand dog, Cassie.
Throughout his life he remained devoted to his family, friends, his community, and his country.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Beams Funeral Home in Fremont.
Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Fremont United Methodist Church, with Rev. Darin Hendrey officiating.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana. Military committal services conducted by members of the Fremont American Legion color guard.
Memorials are requested to the Fremont United Methodist Church or to the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257 Honor Guard.
