Kenneth Robert Steele, Sr, age 74, of Lake Pleasant, Orland, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 near Fremont, Indiana, from the results of a motorcycle accident. He was born on September 14, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Robert and Mary (Bibbo) Steele. He graduated from Fort Wayne Northside High School. Kenny was the longtime business owner of Aztec Excavating, Sewer & Septic Service. He served our Country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, Fremont Moose Lodge, and also enjoyed attending the American Legion posts in Orland, Indiana, and Montgomery, Michigan. Kenny loved his family, being outdoors, and America. He was an avid gun collector, and enjoyed shooting. Survivors include his wife, Janice Steele of Lake Pleasant, Orland, Indiana, children, Kathy Zelt of Albion, Indiana, Lori (Joe) Bannister of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kenny (Mindy) Steele of Orland, Indiana, Denny (Angie) Steele of Kendallville, Indiana, Lenny Steele of Fremont, Indiana, Theresa Steele of Fremont, Indiana, Kris Lambright of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michele (Dave) Milholland of Butler, Indiana and Chad (Mindy) Lambright of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 28 grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren, siblings, Karen (Chuck) Covey of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kerry (Nancy) Steele of Columbia City, Indiana, and Kirk (Sharon) Steele of Butler, Indiana, brother-in-laws, Ron McKinley of Bronson, Michigan, and Dan McKinley of Bronson, Michigan, and a sister-in-law, Martha (Jim) Mayer of Bronson, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Mary (Bibbo) Steele, and a great-granddaughter, McKinley Garrett. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, May 23, 2022 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Orland American Legion Post # 423, 6215 North State Road 327, Orland, Indiana. Rev. Mark Emelander will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Fry Cemetery, Bronson, Michigan, with military honors. Memorial donations in his memory may be directed in care of the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, The Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, or the Orland American Legion Post # 423.
